Have you heard about how blue crested herons glisten as they fly beneath the moonlight. Aren't they such a brave type of bird to do all their hunting at nighttime. I hear they look especially magnificent on the night of a full moon. It's said that their feathers shimmer like the robes of kings and queens.

And how about those swallows. On their migrations they journey thousands of miles, crossing desserts and seas for their food. What a brave type of bird to risk storm and drought, year after year. One could say that swallows are the opposite of crows. I don't find them particularly appealing. Seldom do crows travel far from their nest. They spend all their energy defending their territory. Oh, and put something dead and rotting in front of them and they will queue in circles for hours instead of venturing too far away.

You know, birds have evolved over the ages without ever having to invent the refrigerator! How remarkable it must be to wake trusting your food will be provided right when you need it.

If you are thinking of journeying far, you will find plenty of birds to offer you inspiration. And if you are hesitant because of your current predicaments then you just have to hear the laugh of the brown owl. Everything up close, they just see as a blur. They can’t be distracted by what lies immediately ahead, so they are always able to reach their vision. And now let’s face it – who wants to be the laughing stock of a brown owl!
